Allow me to be brutally honest: after reading the 4-Hour Work Week I set up an online store because it seemed like the fastest, easiest way to make a lot of money.
Hear me out.
I had just come home from Africa. Two years earlier I had started a social enterprise there to bring solar lighting to needy families in remote villages. I invested $30,000, found a business partner, hired employees in Zambia, and we delivered clean lighting to 1,000 families.
Then we were cheated and robbed, and my safety was threatened. We made the tough decision to close the company. Today I tell people,
"I knew my business had failed when 3 large men tried to shove me into the back of a Land Rover"
My whole life I had wanted to serve others, but that backfired, and I returned home wanting only to serve myself.
I built a website and started seeing sales. I had a money making machine — great. But I was miserable. What was I doing with my life?
Every day for a year a nagging voice asked,
"What am I meant to do with my life?"
Despite my past business failure the same idea kept knocking on my door. I was born to serve others.
To my knowledge, e-commerce and self-improvement have never been paired together. People told me it wouldn’t work. I didn’t care, I was going to do it anyway.
I knew that through Rogue Refined I could help my customers become better men, inside and out.
I have a healthy, lifelong obsession with self-improvement. The more I learn about productivity, motivation, and relationships, the better my life gets. I knew I was ready to start sharing, and helping others.
I turned to what I did best, writing, and started blogging weekly. I covered topics I’m passionate about, and that I genuinely believe will improve men’s lives.
I reevaluated our web store, choosing products that I know will elevate men’s lives. Can a watch change your life? I know it can. The clothes you wear and the products you use have a powerful influence on your internal state. Wearing a watch, a great suit, or carrying a great bag will give you incredible confidence.
With increased confidence you are more outgoing, open to better opportunities, and people want to help you.
It turns out e-commerce and self-improvement are a smash-hit together. The response has been amazing. Our men want to become better men. Let us help you do the same.
